We have recently updated the Action Plans featured on the blog and have made lots of progress...new ones coming soon.

Action Plan 8- Impact on Pupil Outcomes

Action Plan 7- Resources

Becta Institutional Infrastructure Matrix

I have completed this matrix today whilst writing the action plan for 'Resources', and although could not submit my answers electronically as this matrix has been archived, was pleased to find that approximately 85% of my responses were in the 'Achieved Standard' category, 10% of responses were within the 'Developing' category and only 5% of responses were classified as 'Focussing'.

The two areas where Chad Vale had not 'Achieved Standard' were in the full implementation of a VLE throughout school and secure access outside of school for teachers to access network resources. Both of these issues are in the current ICT Mark Action Plans to be completed by July 2009.

Action Plan 6- Extending Opportunities for Learning

ICT Development Plan 2009-2011

Please note that the current 'ICT Development Plan' comprises of the action plans created from the ICT Mark Self Review Framework. The ICT Subject Policy and the Chad Vale AUP and E-Safety guidelines have now been removed from the original development plan and are under review. They will be published as separate documents from now on (Feb '09).

ICT Themes (Kent Ed)

"As a general requirement, teachers should provide pupils with opportunities to apply and develop their ICT capability in all subjects (except physical education and the non-core foundation subjects at key stage 1). For each subject, these translate into specific, statutory requirements to use ICT in subject teaching. Teachers should use their judgement to decide when the use of ICT is appropriate at key stage 1 in the non-core foundation subjects."

We are committed to improvement in ICT!

ICT Mark at Chad Vale Primary School

At Chad Vale Primary School, in Harborne, Birmingham we have always been extremely proud of our ICT success, and decided that gaining the ICT Mark would give a fantastic opportunity to review our progress and allow us to refine our vision for the future of learning and teaching using ICT.

The initial step involved accessing the Becta Self-Review framework and completing each aspect, involving staff throughout the school. Their responses of where they thought we were for each section of the review were averaged to give a final self-review 'score' for each aspect of ICT, and this information was entered onto the Becta electronic system.

We then used the self-review framework action planning tool to produce an action plan for each area, but felt the need to condense each plan into a more workable and achievable 'mini-plan'.

Section One- Leadership and Management was the 1st area we tackled...
